Riccardo Barbieri and Manuela Ferrario invited speakers at ICCAI 2026

Riccardo Barbieri and Manuela Ferrario participated as invited speakers at the 24th International Conference on Complex Acute Illness (ICCAI), held in São Paulo, Brazil, on 9–11 September 2026. The conference focused on advanced technologies in intensive care, from innovative monitoring to artificial intelligence for clinical decision support.

ICCAI is the annual meeting of the Society for Complex Acute Illness (SCAI), an interdisciplinary scientific society bringing together clinicians, experimental scientists, and computational modelers to advance the understanding of complex acute illness.

Both researchers contributed to the session “Cardiovascular Modeling: towards Next-Generation Monitoring.” Riccardo Barbieri presented “Clinical Decision Support Systems for hemodynamic support in the ICU: current perspectives and future directions,” discussing current approaches and future opportunities for supporting hemodynamic management in critically ill patients. Manuela Ferrario delivered “Decoding the Arterial Tree in the ICU: Pulse Wave Analysis, Wave Reflections, and Clinical Applications,” exploring how arterial waveform analysis can provide insights into cardiovascular physiology at the bedside and contribute to more personalized monitoring.
